Job Description:
Qualification / Experience
- A minimum MS/MPhil degree in Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS), International relations, Defence and Strategic Studies, or related discipline 
- At least 1-year post-grad research-based demonstrated experience in designing and conducting research, including data collection and analysis
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- The applicant needs to be well conversant with editorial and publishing processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Research Associate will be divided into the following three domains: 
1. Research-related and other tasks: Centre for International Peace and Stability 
Coordinating with the relevant institutions and think tanks on issues of mutual interest. 
Maintaining CIPS Web-portal: Compiling all recent developments (international 
delegations’ visits, offered courses, publications etc.). 
Provide assistance to any research undertaking at the PCS & PKT Department, including; 
research proposals, organizing seminars, RTCs and symposiums at CIPS.
Analyzing and reporting current UN peacekeeping missions and related activities.
Analyzing and maintaining UN-related deployment data, in a well-informed and insightful manner (involving organizing reported activities and preparing content to be further analyzed by the Department of PKT).
2. Tasks related to the NUST Journal of International Peace and Stability (NJIPS) 
Draft and issue the biannual call for papers (CfP). 
Facilitate the NJIPS Editorial Team in manuscript processing. 
Maintain correspondence with peer reviewers, authors, and the Higher Education 
Commission (HEC). 
Ensure papers’ compilation and aid the Editor-in-Chief in the final editing and formatting. 
of the Journal. 
Maintain the Journal’s website (with assistance from the IT dept), primarily to ensure the 
uploading of the Journal’s online version. 
Assure dispatching of printed journals to authors and other relevant individuals and 
organizations. 
3. Task related to CIPS Magazine 
Ensure that all events, developments, and achievements at CIPS are recorded (Photographs and otherwise) to provide their reflection in the Magazine. 
Edit the pieces of writing (Peacekeeping essays, research updates at CIPS, students and 
faculty’s spotlight, academic guest speakers’ discussions, etc.) to the Magazine. 
Aid the Editor in sorting the sequencing and editing of photographs for the Magazine

- Candidates may be considered ineligible for the post due to any of the following reasons:
- 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
- NUST employees with less than two years’ service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
- In process of pursuing a required degree.
- Medically unfit. 
- Only selected candidates will be contacted and issued offer letter. 
- Candidates serving in Govt departments, Armed forces may apply through their respective parent department / organizations. Late / incomplete applications will be ignored. Only short-listed candidates will be considered / called for test / interview and no TA / DA will be admissible.
